And we are just about done with this week. But not quite – dig into the conversation from the past few days.

Hadoop Summit. We published the vast majority of sessions (70 so far) for the Hadoop Summit in San Jose, 26-27 June. Whilst you’re thinking about which sessions to watch and read, then we suggest taking a look at the keynotes for the event:

And the voting is over and the results are in for the Community Choice program of the Hadoop Summit San Jose 2013.

With over 300 sessions, and around 6000 users casting more than 15000 votes there was a lot of excitement to participate and influence the results - thanks to everyone for your contribution. At the end of the process, the selectees are:

Congratulations to the selectees for each track, and a further honorable mention to Sears for winning the ‘Longest Session Title So Far’ which was a surprisingly hard fought contest!…

We want to take a moment to thank everyone who attended the Hadoop Summit in Amsterdam - THANK YOU! With nearly 500 people registered for the event we think we can safely say is was a big success. We’ve had overwhelming support to do it again next year – so watch this space.

The awesome Beurs Van Berlage venue set us up for a series of fantastic conversations and really well attended sessions and talks as Hadoop continues to explode onto the enterprise scene .…

We are just under two weeks away from start of the first ever Hadoop Summit Europe and with all of the final preparations being made we thought we would highlight some of the not to be missed activities in and around the event. The event is filling fast but you can still register here.

We are now less than a month away from the kickoff of Hadoop Summit Europe, taking place March 20-21 in Amsterdam. If you been following #hadoopsummit on twitter you might have noticed some excitement around the community choice, a public voting system that enables the entire Apache Hadoop community to have a say in the sessions chosen for #hadoopsummit EU. Anyone can vote and the top vote getters in each track will automatically be included in the #hadoopsummit EU agenda, March 20-21, 2013.

If you’re still deciding which sessions, in which tracks, should be so lucky to get your vote, I have one for your consideration.…

The Hadoop Summit Europe official call for papers ends this Friday, November 30th – so be sure to get your session submissions in this week!

Sessions in this track focus on applications, tools, algorithms and data science as well as areas of advanced research and emerging applications that use and extend the Hadoop platform.…

Track Chairs have been named for Hadoop Summit Europe. Track Chairs will, in turn, select their track committees who, as a team, will decide which sessions are to be presented at Hadoop Summit Europe. They are as follow:

Operating Hadoop – Evert Lammerts, SARA

I joined Sara as a technical consultant in October 2008. In 2009 I started experimenting with non-traditional distributed processing and storage platforms, mainly Hadoop. I’m currently the lead Hadoop and related big data services.…

This will be the first and the largest European conference focused exclusively on accelerating the enterprise adoption of Apache Hadoop. I wanted to take this opportunity to say thanks to the more than 2,200 attendees, speakers and sponsors that helped to make Hadoop Summit 2012 a great success. There was tremendous buzz throughout the conference; exceeding the excitement levels of all past Hadoop conferences. It’s a great indicator for the future of Apache Hadoop and the broader big data ecosystem.

The fifth annual Hadoop Summit drew to a close last week, with over 2200 Hadoopniks in attendance. While there were many innovations demonstrated, for me the best action was about Pig, HCatalog and Hive from Hortonworks and Twitter.

At the Hadoop Summit Pig Meetup, Twitter announced Ambrose, which now includes an excellent graph layout of Pig EXPLAIN data. This visualization can be used to debug and better understand your Pig scripts.…

Hadoop Summit is just around the corner and by that, I mean next week! There is still time to register for the conference but please do it soon as the conference is filling up quickly. Today is also the last day in which online registration will remain open. After today, you will need to register on-site at the conference itself.

This year’s Hadoop Summit conference, now in its fifth year, promises to be the biggest and best yet.…
