    A very entry level question:
    What does $ mean in pig programming? and what does the following digit after it represent
    join_max_run= JOIN max_runs by($0,max_runs), runs by (year,runs);
    Thank you
    Ardavan

    Hi, Ardavan

    It is similar to Shell scripting. $0 means the first column, $1 means the second column, and so on. It is useful when you didn’t name the column.

    Hope this helps.
