copy data into hive table

  • #42415

We have two clusters and i want to copy data from hbase(source) to hive external table(on target cluster). what is preferrable approach for this. Do i need to take care of partitions and buckets of target cluster manually.

    Hi Satish,

Currently HBase is not aware of partitions and buckets of hive tables. You can try select from hbase table into hive table with hive’s hbasestoragehandler, but it may not scale.

Alternatively, export data from hbase and register the data into hive.

    Thanks,
    Yi
