    Also,
make sure your /etc/hosts file have correct format for each host entry.
It MUST be in htis form:

    x.x.x.x fully_qualified_name

    short name is optional.

    Hi Zcq and Neeraj,

When trying with the fully qualified name make sure of three things:
you get the fully qualified name when you enter the command ‘hostname -f’
as you have done already make sure that this name is in the /etc/hosts file on each host
enter these fully qualified names into the list of hosts to install to in Ambari

    Thanks,
    Ted.

    Larry,

I will definitely try out again but I took the route of installing and configuring manually.

    Z. cq,

I was able to install it successfully by following the manual steps which gave me bit more control. I will try again today with fully qualified name and see if get pass the error or not.

    Regards

I am using centos 6.3 64bit and I don’t think so it should have any issue with the version but for starters please stick to suggested OS version.

    Yi,

I am using simple hostname e.g. “OrionMNode” and I wil try with domain name. But why it is so simply calling that out in log file instead of

    Hi Neeraj,

    What system are you servers?
Can you check if ‘hostname’ and ‘hostname -f’ returns the same FQDN with a domain name? Try set up a fqdn with domain name. It looks like puppet has difficulty getting the fqdn. Correct them if they are not. Then restart every ambari-agent and ambari-server.

    Thanks,
    Yi

    Hi, Neeraj

    Thanks for trying HDP.

The error seems complaining about a non-string. Can you please provide the detail steps you have performed? If possible, please provide ambari server and ambari agent logs. They should be at /var/log/ambari-server and /var/log/ambari-agent

    Thanks
    Larry
