I am new to Map/Reduce programming and is trying to solve a problem where I would like to use binary (sequence file) output from the mappers (many large and complex structures as values) but text based output from the reducer (low volume, human readable) but I can’t seem to find a way of doing this?

Is there a way or if not is this something that is planned for the future of Hadoop – seems like a quite common requirement…
