Out of curiosity, in the future will the installation process/management (start, stop, etc) be modified to be more in line with what today’s Windows administrators are familiar with?

There is definitely a lot of potential with Windows on Hadoop, but I’m concerned it will be hard to push for client adoption when it still feels very much like managing a Linux application.

Can you please let me know when your alpha/beta distribution will be available in 2013?

    Hi Konrad,

Yes, Windows will be supported in Hadoop 2.0 in the future as well.

    Thanks,

Hortonworks currently only supports Hadoop v1.0.3. Do you have plan to provide distribution for Apache Hadoop 2.0.
We are building connector to Hadoop 2.0 on linux but some of our applications can run on Windows. So we would like to have the node manager to be set up on Windows. Cygwin is our best tool for now, but eventually for clients we need to have full support on this.

    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Konrad

Thanks for your input. We are working on making HDP for Windows more windows users friendly.

    Have a nice day!
