Hadoop-1.1.1 Datanode Stop Fails

  • #21681

I am using Hadoop-1.1.1, when I start HDFS namenode and datanode startup well.

While stopping HDFS I got following error in datanode logs:

2013-04-15 11:20:47,198 WARN org.apache.hadoop.hdfs.server.datanode.DataNode: Call to bhushank/ failed on local exception:
    at org.apache.hadoop.ipc.Client.wrapException(
    at org.apache.hadoop.ipc.RPC$Invoker.invoke(
    at sun.proxy.$Proxy5.sendHeartbeat(Unknown Source)
    at org.apache.hadoop.hdfs.server.datanode.DataNode.offerService(
    Caused by:
    at org.apache.hadoop.ipc.Client$Connection.receiveResponse(
    at org.apache.hadoop.ipc.Client$

    How to resolve it?

    Hi, Bhushan

This error is not the cause of the failure.

    Can you please help clarify:

    1. Are you trying to stop datanode from UI?
    2. Can you please provide full namenode and datanode log to our ftp server?

could be thrown due to one of the following.
    1. The input file contains no data.
    2. DataInputStream is used.

Does any of the preceding apply?

    Hi Deepak,

The EOFException is usually caused by an attempt to read past the end of the file. This could be because the input file is empty or that you are trying to read more data than is in the stream.
