    Hi All,

    I have delete tmp dir (as an hdfs user ) using cmd. $ hadoop fs -rmr /tmp .

    But after that I am not able to run any map reduce job from using user.
    hive query is also not running from hive shell.

    Getting access control exception like
    hive> select * from hivexml;
    FAILED: RuntimeException org.apache.hadoop.security.AccessControlException: org.apache.hadoop.security.AccessControlException: Permission denied: user=root, access=WRITE, inode=”/tmp”:hdfs:hdfs:drwxr-xr-x
    Kindly Help

    Thanks,
    Sandeep

    Hi Anupam,

    Can you create the /tmp directory (while using hdfs) and give it world writable (777) permissions. (hadoop fs -chmod -R 777 /tmp)
    chmod it to hdfs:hdfs using hadoop fs -chown -R hdfs:hdfs /tmp

    Then you will need to start the cluster again, as some components such as oozie put files in the tmp directory for use.

    Thanks

    Dave

    Hi Anupam,

    Was there any reason to delete the /tmp directory on HDFS?

    Thanks

    Dave
