HDP 1.0, Oozie and Hive queries with hints failing

  • #29693

    Hi All,

I am running Hive Queries through Oozie. In the Hive queries usedHive hints. When I run Hive hints query through Hive Hive CLI it works but when run it through Oozie – Hive action it fails.

Basically it is not able to find my custom InputFormat class.

I get ClassNoutFoundException for my custom InputFormat class and below exception stack trace

    java.io.IOException: java.lang.NullPointerException
    at ……FetchOperator.getNextRow(FetchOperator.java:341)

    Please Help.

    Thanks,
    vavkkishore

    Hi Vavkkishore,

The ClassNotFoundError is usually because you have not correctly added the jar containing those classes to the classpath. Make sure that the jar file containing your code is in hdfs and pointed to by the oozie.libpath property in the job.properties. If you clear up the class not found bit, the null pointer will probably clear up as well.

    Thanks,
    Ted.
