HDP on Windows – Installation Forum

HDP on Windows Server 2012 Core

    To whom it may concern:

    Three questions please:

    1. Has HDP been tested on Windows Server 2012 Core (the Core edition)?
    2. Do you expect any issues / problems on top of those expected with Windows Server 2012 non-core?
    3. Do you feel Windows Server 2012 is stable enough (as stable as RHEL) to run a HDP on a 20-30 machine cluster storing 5-10 terabytes of data; we are interested in both HDFS and C# MapReduce.

    Thank you,
    Edward

    Hi Edward,

    Thanks for your question.
    1. Windows Server 2012 Core is not tested and is not recommended with HDP.
3 . Windows Server 2012 is tested and is stable for big Hadoop deployments.

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks,
    Seth
