Hive / HCatalog Forum

hive in sandbox with s3

    My main use case is using hive with s3 tables.
    However when I
    hive>create external table mytable (m string) location ‘s3n://Access:Secret@mybucket/test’;
    I get
    FAILED: Error in metadata: MetaException(message:org.apache.hadoop.fs.s3.S3Exception: org.jets3t.service.S3ServiceException: S3 HEAD request failed for ‘/test’ – ResponseCode=403, ResponseMessage=Forbidden)

    How do I resolve this?

    The 403 code suggests an authentication failure, can you access this bucket from anywhere else using the same parameters?
