    Dear Sandboxers :)

    i am currently trying to connect the sandbox to micrsostrategy.

    – ODBC Connection is set up (32Bit – prereq for microstrategy)
    – DNS Connection selected in microstrat. desktop

    When trying to receive the list of Hive tables, i receive the following error message:

    Error from Hive: ETIMEDOUT. Connection String: DSN=Sample Hortonworks Hive DSN;UID=hue;
    [S1000:34: on HDBC]

    Couldn’t find a log entry in the sandbox hive.

    Any suggestions on what i can do to solve the problem?

    My best wishes

    Jan

    Hi Jan,
    You may need to modify your ODBC connection to use the IP assigned to the sandbox. It should be a 10.x.x.x address. You will also need to make sure it is using the correct port which by default should be 10000. I hope this helps.

    Hi Ian,

    thank you very much for your answer. Sorry for the delays, i was a few days off.

    Just to put this right:

    The ODBC Connection is set up correctly:

    Driver Version: V1.4.5.1005

    Running connectivity tests…

    Attempting connection
    Connection established
    Disconnecting from server

    TESTS COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY!

    But when trying to use this connection in microstrategy desktop, i receive the error message:

    Error from Hive: ETIMEDOUT. Connection String: DSN=Sample Hortonworks Hive DSN;UID=hue;
    [S1000:34: on HDBC]

    By writing this, i realize, that this is a timeout error. Hence i’ll try to adjust the msi desktop timeout settings.

    Cheers

    /jan
