I am trying to use a php thrift client to talk to the hive server. on port 10000. But the server wont start.
Is there any instructions on how to get the hive server started on the vm so I can test using thrift to get data?

    Hi Freddyd,
Are you able to utilize Ambari to see the running status of hive and to stop and start? I believe this needs to be enabled in the sandbox. The alternatvie is to ssh into the sandbox and follow the manual start instructions located here -> http://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/HDP2/HDP-2.0.9.1/bk_installing_manually_book/content/rpm-chap6-6.html

    I hope this helps.
