This issue already report in Hortonworks official forum on November 19, 2013 (almost 2 months), there is no work-around or solution for this issue.
This is a critical issue, because HIVE cannot work!! And, the service quality already make many users considering not use Hortonworks HDP as their first choice.

    Hi Gregory,

Is this a nagios warning? The message itself is INFO level about deprecated properties, which should not cause hive metastore failure. What is the log file in /var/log/hive/hive.log about the metastore?

Install a new cluster yesterday and encountered the same problem.

    Hive won’t start
