    Hi,

I downloaded Hortonworks Hive ODBC driver for 32 bit, configured it to connect to Hive on Hadoop cluster on UNIX, and was able to successfully connect to Hive till 2 days back.

But today I am unable to connect to Hive and it is throwing an error of TIMEDOUT

I downloaded the driver last week only so cannot be an expiry issue.

Can anybody please guide me what could be the issue here.

    Regards
    Richa

    Hi Richa,

It seems like something is causing your Hive server to die. You should check the Hive logs to see if you can see why it is stopping.

    Thanks,
    Ted.

    Thanks Ted for your response

We have Hive 0.10 installed on CDH-4.2.0 hosted on UNIX environment. I am able to query and run DDL on Hive through both Hue interface and command line from UNIX box. So I am sure Hive is not going down.

Issue we are facing is with connecting to Hive through Tableau trial edition on my desktop.
We have tried connecting through both Windows XP and windows 7.

    Any pointer would be helpful

    Thanks,
    Richa
