    I followed the instruction to install, but the installation program stopped with nothing installed. Here is the log:

    Alexander,
    I suggest you to look for any folders listed in your configuration file and for any servcies related to hadoop ( look for words hadoop, hdfs, hbase, mapred, etc in the service name).
    Do not forget to reboot your windows machine to clean all potential caching.

    Thank you!

    Sasha

    Hi, Yi,

    I’m pretty sure that I did erase all folders and files from old HDP installation. What files, folders or particular registry keys (for ex, ones that contain product key GUID) should I look for?

    Thanks.

    Hi Alexandr,

    The windows uninstall doesn’t remove the HDP files. The HDP windows installer current version requires that the dirs used by the installer are empty. Thus without removing the previously installed HDP files, the installer will fail.

    Thanks,
    Yi

    I was able to reproduce this problem twice in the following way:
    1) get a clean OS (I used win7 and win 2012)
    2) install HDP 1.1 for windows, it works great
    2) uninstall it
    3) try to install again -> Error -2147287038
    so, its definitely a problem on an installer

    I got the similar error looks like HDP_DATA_DIR=C:\hadoop\data cannot be in same folder as install. I changed it to HDP_DATA_DIR=C:\hdp\data and it seems to work.

    Hi, Jason

    One question, are you using DNS or HOSTS?

    Can you please try to add hostnames to your hosts on all machines? Please also disable IPv6.

    Thanks
    Larry

    Thanks, Ted!

    I had followed your suggestion to change the DB_HOSTNAME and uninstalled hadoop. The new configuration file list as bellow. But when I rerun the installation program, the error is still there.

    #Log directory
    HDP_LOG_DIR=C:\hadoop\logs

    #Data directory
    HDP_DATA_DIR=C:\hadoop\data

    #Hosts
    NAMENODE_HOST=bigdatatest.acme.com
    SECONDARY_NAMENODE_HOST=bigdatatest.acme.com
    JOBTRACKER_HOST=bigdatatest.acme.com
    HIVE_SERVER_HOST=bigdatatest.acme.com
    OOZIE_SERVER_HOST=bigdatatest.acme.com
    TEMPLETON_HOST=bigdatatest.acme.com
    #SLAVE_HOSTS=slave1.acme.com, slave2.acme.com, slave3.acme.com
    SLAVE_HOSTS=bigdatatest.acme.com

    #Database host
    DB_FLAVOR=derby
    DB_HOSTNAME=bigdatatest.acme.com

    #Hive properties

    Hi Jason,

    The only bit that may have caused a problem is the DB_HOSTNAME should also be the fully qualified hostname. After you make that change to the properties file, please be sure to run the uninstaller in the “Add / Remove Programs” control panel, if it is there.

    Thanks,
    Ted.
