    Im installing HDP (hdfs & mapreduce only) on Centos 5.8 and getting the message that installation fails. After checking the deployment logs, could not figure out the root cause. Found the following lines in puppet_agent.log file:
    Thu Jul 05 12:55:48 +0500 2012 Puppet (debug): Failed to load library ‘selinux’ for feature ‘selinux’
    Thu Jul 05 12:55:48 +0500 2012 Puppet (debug): Puppet::Type::User::ProviderUser_role_add: file roleadd does not exist
    Thu Jul 05 12:55:48 +0500 2012 Puppet (debug): Puppet::Type::User::ProviderDirectoryservice: file /usr/bin/dscl does not exist
    Thu Jul 05 12:55:48 +0500 2012 Puppet (debug): Puppet::Type::User::ProviderLdap: true value when expecting false
    Thu Jul 05 12:55:48 +0500 2012 Puppet (debug): Puppet::Type::User::ProviderPw: file pw does not exist
    Thu Jul 05 12:55:48 +0500 2012 Puppet (debug): Failed to load library ‘ldap’ for feature ‘ldap’

    At the end of the same file, it shows like that:
    Fri Jul 06 22:19:11 +0500 2012 Puppet (err): Could not request certificate: getaddrinfo: Temporary failure in name resolution
    Fri Jul 06 22:19:21 +0500 2012 Puppet (debug): Using cached certificate for ca
    Fri Jul 06 22:21:15 +0500 2012 Puppet (err): Could not request certificate: getaddrinfo: Temporary failure in name resolution
    Fri Jul 06 22:21:25 +0500 2012 Puppet (debug): Using cached certificate for ca

    puppet_master.log file messages:
    Sat Jul 07 18:53:53 +0500 2012 Puppet (debug): Puppet::Type::User::ProviderDirectoryservice: file /usr/bin/dscl does not exist
    Sat Jul 07 18:53:53 +0500 2012 Puppet (debug): Puppet::Type::User::ProviderPw: file pw does not exist
    Sat Jul 07 18:53:53 +0500 2012 Puppet (debug): Puppet::Type::User::ProviderLdap: true value when expecting false
    Sat Jul 07 18:53:53 +0500 2012 Puppet (debug): Puppet::Type::User::ProviderUser_role_add: file roleadd does not exist

    Would any one please help me out to figure out the root cause
    Thank you

    Hi Akhtar,

    Please ensure the puppet server’s name has not changed after initially installing HMC.

    also ensure the HMC server’s hostname resolves from all hosts (including the HMC host itself) using the fully formatted name returned by:

    “hostname -f”

    remember to avoid illegal characters in the hostname and do not use IP’s

    Sasha
