Do I need to set permission for the mapred user?

    Anand,
    location /boot/efi/hadoop/mapred seems to be a problem…
It may be mounted as a read only on the system and can not be modified.

Please, rerun installation and make sure you use /hadoop/mapred for the location.

    Hope this help.

    Hi Anand,

You should use root. some folks don’t and that can cause problems like what you’re seeing. Since you are using root it is strange that the user mapred doesn’t work properly. The various users for the hadoop ecosystem are usually set up with the correct permissions by the install. Will need to do some research to see if others have seen this or a similar issue and found the fix. Will get back to you when I have more info.

    Thanks,
    Ted.

Yes, I am running the installation as root.
    What should I use?
