    We installed our cluster without some of the optional services such as Flume. But our /var/log/messages file is filled with Nagios errors about it failing to reach those services, as well as old MapReduce (version 1) services. For example:

    Jul 8 10:41:01 nj-hpma01 /usr/sbin/gmetad[1189]: data_thread() got no answer from any [HDPFlumeServer] datasource
    Jul 8 10:41:06 nj-hpma01 /usr/sbin/gmetad[1189]: data_thread() for [HDPJobTracker] failed to contact node 10.65.16.81
    Jul 8 10:41:06 nj-hpma01 /usr/sbin/gmetad[1189]: data_thread() got no answer from any [HDPJobTracker] datasource
    Jul 8 10:41:13 nj-hpma01 /usr/sbin/gmetad[1189]: data_thread() for [HDPTaskTracker] failed to contact node 10.65.16.81
    Jul 8 10:41:13 nj-hpma01 /usr/sbin/gmetad[1189]: data_thread() got no answer from any [HDPTaskTracker] datasource
    Jul 8 10:41:16 nj-hpma01 /usr/sbin/gmetad[1189]: data_thread() for [HDPFlumeServer] failed to contact node 10.65.16.81
    Jul 8 10:41:16 nj-hpma01 /usr/sbin/gmetad[1189]: data_thread() got no answer from any [HDPFlumeServer] datasource
    Jul 8 10:41:21 nj-hpma01 /usr/sbin/gmetad[1189]: data_thread() for [HDPJobTracker] failed to contact node 10.65.16.81

    Why didn’t Ambari cancel those Nagios checks?

    Hi, Looks like that is a BUG that is fixed in the upcoming Ambari 1.6.1 release.

    https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AMBARI-5750

    BTW, apologies. You want to run w/dashdash (“two dashes”) to get the version. The forums text made that command into a single dash in the UI.

    ambari-server “dashdash”version

    ambari-server -version doesn’t work for me but “yum” shows It’s 1.6:

    [root@nj-hpma01 conf]# yum list installed | grep ambari
    ambari-agent.x86_64 1.6.0-46 @Updates-ambari
    ambari-log4j.noarch 1.6.0.46-1 @Updates-ambari
    ambari-server.noarch 1.6.0-46 @Updates-ambari
    1.6.0.46-1.el6 @Updates-ambari
