    Hello,

    I’m facing an issue starting the NameNode after trying to install the xasecure agent, the error in the ambari console is:
    2014-07-31 17:33:37,300 – Link['/etc/hadoop/conf'] {‘to': ‘/etc/hadoop/conf.empty’}
    2014-07-31 17:33:37,301 – Error while executing command ‘start':
    Traceback (most recent call last):

    Fail: LinkProvider[Link['/etc/hadoop/conf']] trying to create a symlink with the same name as an existing file or directory

    In the config folder I see the following:
    [root@namenode1 hadoop]# pwd
    /etc/hadoop
    [root@namenode1 hadoop]# ls -ltr
    total 60
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 29 Jul 11 13:08 conf-20140731143453 -> /etc/alternatives/hadoop-conf
    drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jul 31 14:18 conf.empty

    drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jul 31 16:36 conf-20140731163626
    drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jul 31 16:41 conf-20140731164331
    drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jul 31 16:43 conf-20140731164345
    drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jul 31 16:50 conf-20140731165133
    drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jul 31 16:52 conf-20140731165510
    drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jul 31 16:55 conf-20140731165701
    drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jul 31 17:27 conf-20140731173256
    drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jul 31 17:32 conf

    Am I right in thinking the conf.empty that trying to be linked at startup is the last good working config?

    Can I therefore delete (rename) the conf folder so the symlink can be created or is this likely to cause further problems?

    Thanks
    Pete
