    Hi
I have configured hortonworks using ambari and it installs successfully and all services were running. Then due to some reason, i have to reboot vm. After reboot, I start the ambri server using “ambari-server start” . Now the problem is that no service is running and having yellow icons. In the Hosts tab, host is under No Heartbeat status. But the vm is running. Can anyone let me know what should I do know???

    Thanks
    SHuja

You have to start ambari agent.
    #ambari-server start
    #ambari-agent start

If u r in cluster then u have to start ambari agent in all the node in the cluster too.

    Hi Ted,
basically HDFS is also with red icon. and in Alert Health and Check, its showing

NameNode process down CRIT for about 2 hours
    Connection refused
NameNode Web UI down WARN for about 2 hours
WARNING: NameNode web UI not accessible : http://node1.cloudmatix.com:50070
NameNode edit logs directory status WARN for about 2 hours
WARNING: Namenode directory status not available via http://node1.cloudmatix.com:50070/jmx url

and yes, I have tried to start it 3-4 times but its not starting.

    Hi Shuja,

Unfortunately, I see nothing in either of the logs that would give a hint as to why the name node is failing. Are you able to stop and restart the HDFS service from Ambari?

    Thanks,
    Ted.

    Hi Shuja,

Can you paste the NameNode logs from /var/log/hadoop/hdfs ? It will be the file that ends in namenode.log. Please paste to pastebin like you did the other log.

    Thanks,
    Ted.

Can you let me know about this?

    Hi Shuja,

Yup, that’d do it too. Ambari gets it heartbeats through the agent. Thanks for letting us know that the issue is now solved.

    Thanks,
    Ted.

    Hi Shuja,

This no heart beat problem is usually because the time is out of sync between the nodes on your cluster. Please make sure that you have set up NTP on all nodes in the cluster and that it is in sync on all nodes.

    Thanks,
    Ted.
