    Hello,

In my environment both hiveserver and metastore running. I can connect to hive with cli.
However when I try to connect through Hortonworks ODBC driver I’m getting the following error message.

    Driver Version: V1.0.0.1009

    Running connectivity tests...

    Attempting connection
    Failed to establish connection
SQLSTATE: HY000[Hortonworks][ODBC] (10360) Invalid connection string.

    TESTS COMPLETED WITH ERROR.

Have you been able to resolve this? I’ve got the same problem but was not able to find a solution.

    Thanks

    Hi Tokan,

Thank you for using HDP and our ODBC drivers.

Please make sure that your hiveserver is running on port 10000. You can use command below to make sure that Hive processes are bound to port 9083 and 10000:

    netstat -anp|grep ’9083\|10000′

Also, please make sure that hive server is reachable from ODBC client machine. You can try telneting to hiveserver IP on port 10000 to test connectivity.

Additionally, please make sure that you are providing correct login information for ODBC driver such server IP and port (10000 be default).

You can also find more on ODBC drivers from post below:

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks,
    Seth
