Remote Java client trying to connect to Sandbox

    Hi All,
    I have a remote Java client and am trying to connect to the sandbox. I enabled bridged networking so my sandbox has an ip address of 172.17.52.153. I’m running the client and sandbox all on the same windows 7 box.

    Here is my java client:

    try {
    Configuration config = HBaseConfiguration.create();

    config.setInt(“timeout”, 120000);
    config.set(“hbase.master”, “172.17.52.153:9000”);
    config.set(“hbase.zookeeper.quorum”, “172.17.52.153”);
    config.set(“hbase.zookeeper.property.clientPort”, “2181”);
    config.set(“zookeeper.znode.parent”, “/hbase-unsecure”);

    HBaseAdmin.checkHBaseAvailable(config);

    System.out.println(“HBase is running!”);

    } catch (MasterNotRunningException e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    System.out.println(“HBase is not running!”);
    System.exit(1);
    }catch (Exception ce){
    ce.printStackTrace();
    }

    When trying to connect, I’m getting an unknown host exception

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks.

    Had to add <ip> sandbox.hortonworks.com to my windows hosts file and it seems to be fixed now.
