    Hi All,
    I have a remote Java client and am trying to connect to the sandbox. I enabled bridged networking so my sandbox has an ip address of I’m running the client and sandbox all on the same windows 7 box.

    Here is my java client:

    try {
    Configuration config = HBaseConfiguration.create();

    config.setInt(“timeout”, 120000);
    config.set(“hbase.master”, “″);
    config.set(“hbase.zookeeper.quorum”, “”);
    config.set(“”, “2181”);
    config.set(“zookeeper.znode.parent”, “/hbase-unsecure”);

    System.out.println(“HBase is running!”);

    } catch (MasterNotRunningException e) {
    System.out.println(“HBase is not running!”);
    }catch (Exception ce){

    When trying to connect, I’m getting an unknown host exception

    org.apache.hadoop.hbase.MasterNotRunningException: unknown host:

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Had to add <ip> to my windows hosts file and it seems to be fixed now.
