How do I startup a second sandbox vm with namenode only running? I am testing manual failover.

    Hi Bill,

Do you mean start a namenode daemon or a secondarynamnode daemon on the second sandbox? Respectively,

    su -l hdfs -c “/usr/lib/hadoop/bin/hadoop-daemon.sh –config /etc/hadoop/conf start namenode”

    su -l hdfs -c “/usr/lib/hadoop/bin/hadoop-daemon.sh –config /etc/hadoop/conf start secondarynamenode”

    Remember to change conf files.
