HDP on Linux – Installation Forum

Single Node HDP Installation fails

  • #34048

    Hello,

I am trying to install HDP on a Windows 2008 machine. First try all seemed to go well until I got to the point where I had to start the services. It gave an error: “hadoop cannot bind argument to parameter ‘Name’ because it is null”. Unable to resolve this error I tried to do a complete re-install. But now Hadoop doesn’t even install and only displays “Installation failed. See log files for details”.

I have checked the log and it shows errors but I can’t figure out where it is coming from. Below are parts of the log file where it shows an error:

“MSI (c) (B8:74) [16:10:47:861]: Package name extracted from package path: ‘hdp-1.3.0.0.winpkg.msi’

    Hi Gawein,
I hot this problem too. It your 7:20am reply, you’ll see that setup could not find python. I installed python using the Microsoft Web Platform installed and then made sure that C:\Python27 was in my PATH environment variable. This got me past the error you got.
    Regards,
    Bill

Not sure if your problem is resolved, but the mistake I made was not setting the Python path at machine-level.
Please try the command line as “setx PATH “$env:path;C:\Python27″ /m” and then try installing Hadoop. This should help overcome the problem. At least it did for me.
