    Thanks Mahesh, Actually I resolved the issue after digging through the HBase code base. Basically hbase-site.xml was configured to have zookeeper root node as hbase-unsecure. I think this was supposed to be just hbase. Because of this zookeeper was not able to get the region-meta server name. Fixing the configuration resolved the issue.

    <property>
    <name>zookeeper.znode.parent</name>
    <value>/hbase-unsecure</value>
    </property>

    Hi Arun,

    1. Can you provide the command you have used to perform the sqoop import?
    2. Can you paste the complete trace from the sqoop import till it fails.
    3. Is the table existing in hbase to which you are trying to import the data from teradata.

    -Mahesh
