    I tried creating a Hive external table using the below script. The table is getting created without any issue. But when I select the data from this table, it doesn’t return any rows (The HBase table does have data). Can someone please help me on what I might be missing?

    CREATE EXTERNAL TABLE at6 (key int, val1 string, val2 string)
    STORED BY ‘org.apache.hadoop.hive.hbase.HBaseStorageHandler’
    WITH SERDEPROPERTIES (“hbase.columns.mapping”=”:key,cf1:val1,cf2:val2″)
    TBLPROPERTIES(“hbase.table.name”=”t1″);

    Yes, I’m able to access tables created exclusively for Hive.

    I’m also able to access tables created in Hive from HBase.

    But, I’m not able to access any data using Hive external table to read data from an existing HBase table.

    Thanks,
    Arvind

    Hi Arvind,
    Just wondering, do you have any other tables in hive, if so are you able to access the data in those tables?

    Kind Regards,
    Robert
