Hortonworks Sandbox Forum

Unable to enter Sandbox: http://127.0.0.1:8000

    Hi,

I have seen this issue reported in earlier threads, tried everything that was recommended but could not find the resolution. Hence posting this.

I am using Oracle VirtualBox 4.3.12, Windows 7, Sandbox 2.1. After a multitude of attempts, I was able to run the virtual image. I also got to the registration form, and when I try to “dive in”: http://127.0.0.1:8000, its just not working. The ping to 127.0.0.1 works but not when I type it in the browser. I have tried it in Firefox 29.0.1, IE 8 and Chrome 35. I have updated network settings as host-only adaptor.

Can someone please suggest what I should do? Responses are much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    AssortedOrb

    Hi AssortedOrb,
Can you try the http://127.0.0.1:8080/ address and see if you can access Ambari? The 8000 port is for Hue, which is an interface that allows you to interact with Hadoop through a GUI. You may want to try and ssh into the sandbox to ensure Hue is running. This can be accomplished with a service hue status, to check the status. You can execute a restart by executing service hue restart. I hope this helps.

    Hi Ian,
Thank you very much for your response, much appreciate it.

I did ssh into the sandbox and Hue is running. I changed network adaptor settings to ‘Bridged’ and typed this url instead: http://143.222.43.2:8000/ and it worked. The IP address 143.222.43.2 was what showed up when sandbox started.

    Thanks,
    S
