I try to install HDP2 via HMC in pseudo distribution mode (Under VMware vSphere 5.0 with CentOS 6.3 64bit OS) but it always failed, I have try the following method you provided but still in vain.
    yum -y erase hmc puppet
    yum -y install hmc
    service hmc start
Finally, I use the check.sh mentioned in “http://hortonworks.com/community/forums/topic/hmc-installation-support-help-us-help-you/ “and generated the report.

I have uploaded the following log files to hortonworks’ FTP server
    -rw-r–r– 1 root root 9717 2012-12-07 16:05 check.sh_James.log
    -rw-r–r– 1 root root 452274 2012-12-07 16:04 hmc_James.log
    -rw-r—– 1 root root 14661 2012-12-07 16:03 puppet_agent_http_James.log
    -rw-r–r– 1 root root 4182400 2012-12-07 16:03 puppet_agent_James.log

    -rw-r–r– 1 root root 17110 2012-12-07 16:03 puppet_master_James.log
Could you please give me a hand?
