I have a similar problem to Pradeep K. I just installed the HDP 2.2 sandbox for VMware and it started fine in VM Player 6.0.5 build-2443746. I could open the URL http://192.168.229.129/ and could see the first page. But when trying to open the Sandbox “Dive right in”.
This page displays the following instructions:
    ***************
To use the web interface to explore HDP 2.2 Sandbox navigate to http://192.168.22:8000. The username and password is hue and 1111 respectively.
    ******************
But on clicking http://192.168.22:8000 the Link fails to open. There doesn’t appear to be any assistance to diagnose the problem. Please help.

I had the same issue others mentioned. The IP addresses in both the web and ssh links is incorrect. The port on the ssh link is also incorrect.

I am not able to download the Sandbox file (http://hortonassets.s3.amazonaws.com/2.2/Sandbox_HDP_2.2_VirtualBox.ova). Its been downloading for past several hours (could get only 50 mb, on a broadband line of 8MBPS).

Is there any other source, where I can get it?

Hi, I have been using Sandbox 2.2 for a few weeks and working through the tutorials.
The platform is amazing and already I have been able to demonstrate better performance from Hadoop rather than SQL Server.

I do however still need to provide one issue, and that is R integration and execution off Hadoop,
I have read a number of articles on installation RHadoop but have been unsuccessful is getting this working on HDP Sandbox 2.2.
Would someone in the communication be able to assist.

    Much appreciated, Neelan

I just installed the HDP 2.2 sandbox for VMware and it started fine in VM player 7 Pro. I could open the URL http://192.168.30.129/ and could see the first page. But then …….
    This page mentions below Lines
    ***************
To use the web interface to explore HDP 2.2 Sandbox navigate to http://192.168.3:8000. The username and password is hue and 1111 respectively.
    ******************
But on clicking http://192.168.3:8000 the Link fails to open. I understand the IP may vary from PC to PC but what am I doing wrong here? what else Do I have to try. The slide share is about VirtualBox. What about VMware help. Am I missing the link. Please help.

    Hi all,
for virtualbox on windows, once that you have it up and running (and if the default is not working), try the following:
    – set the networking mode to host-only
    – get the VBox ip after logging in
    – use the ip in the URL to access, even if the cover page states to use the loopback ip
    This worked well for me.
    Cheers,
    Peter

So it turns out that the OVA file never completely downloaded. File size I got was only 1.33 GB instead of the 2.6 GB file seen on the download page (http://hortonworks.com/products/hortonworks-sandbox/#install).
Multiple attempts at re-downloading the file have not been successful.

    Hi Cheryle,
Quick question…I’m trying to deploy the sandbox .ova (Hortonworks_Sandbox_2.1.ova) to an existing VSphere 5.0.0 environment at around 75 percent complete I get “Failed to deploy OVF package: The request was aborted: The request was canceled.”
Has anyone else seen this and what might be the solution?

    Thanks for any help!

Hello and thank you in advance for your help!

I downloaded vmplayer and hadoop sandbox 2.1 on my Windows 8.1 machine. I managed to figure out how to go into my system BIOS menu and enable VT-x to get that piece working but when I try to access the GUI website I am having issues. I can navigate to this address: http://192.168.111.128/ but inside of that page, when I try to click the address http://127.0.0.1:8000 to get started, it says that “This page can’t be displayed” and that the remote device will not accept the connection. Any idea what might be the issue here?

This is more a feature request.
could you install the avahi service on the sandbox?
this enables Bonjour, and allows me to go

    $ ssh root@sandbox.local
instead of trying to remember the IP#

I am doing this for the first time and on windows 8.1 I followed the instructions for installing oracle virtual box and now trying to import sandbox appliance. The notes I have do not indicated a separate procedure for downloading sandbox and when I go to virtual box menu for importing sandbox there is simply nothing there when I select the option. could anyone please tell me what I am missing. Thanks.

I downloaded the image again today with more success. The filesize is 2,692,704 KB rather than the 2,071,617 KB I got yesterday.

This file loads into Virtual Box with Ubuntu(32 bit) OS.

When I try to start it it fails: “This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU.”

My host PC is only 32 bit so I guess I’m stuffed?

I’ve downloaded the VM twice and am trying to import it into Virtualbox 4.3.12 running on Windows 7.

Both times I get the same error:

    Failed to import appliance C:\Users\lspiller\Downloads\Hortonworks_Sandbox_2.1.ova.
Could not create the clone medium ‘C:\Users\lspiller\VirtualBox VMs\Hortonworks Sandbox 2.1\Hortonworks_Sandbox_2.1-disk1.vmdk’.
VMDK: Compressed image is corrupted ‘H:\Hortonworks_Sandbox_2.1-disk1.vmdk’ (VERR_ZIP_CORRUPTED).
    Result Code: VBOX_E_FILE_ERROR (0x80BB0004)
    Component: Appliance
    Interface: IAppliance {3059cf9e-25c7-4f0b-9fa5-3c42e441670b}

It seems unlikely this is a random corruption during download if the corruption is inan identical place.

I’m downloading with IE 8. Is this likely to be the issue?

    Thanks

As I understand HDP is compatible with Amazon and in turn openstack. You might find this guide on installing on amazon useful, process with be different but the concept the same.
