HDP on Linux – Installation Forum

where to find installation debug logs?

I setup ambari server, and started the installation by pressing the “Next” button. everything is installed fine. but when it tries to start, the NameNode fails to start, and then all dependent components failed too.

I tried to find the debug messages from logs, but couldn’t find a place on ambari server showing such logs.

where are the installation error logs?

    Hi Yang,

The namenode logs will be in /var/log/hadoop/hdfs

I see, maybe it’s nicer if the Ambari server can integrate the logs into the UI, instead of users having to go through ssh to each of the nodes and pick out the err logs
