    Hi I am trying to install hmc and it says no hmc avaliable.

    [hadoop11 ~]# yum install hmc
    Loaded plugins: aliases, changelog, downloadonly, fastestmirror, kabi, presto, refresh-packagekit, security, tmprepo, verify, versionlock
    Loading support for CentOS kernel ABI
    Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
    * base: mirrors.hns.net.in
    * extras: mirrors.hns.net.in
    * updates: mirrors.hns.net.in
    Setting up Install Process
    No package hmc available.

    Repo side there are no files

    hadoop11 ~]# ls -lrt /etc/yum.repos.d/
    total 12
    -rw-r–r–. 1 root root 626 Dec 9 2011 CentOS-Media.repo
    -rw-r–r–. 1 root root 637 Dec 9 2011 CentOS-Debuginfo.repo
    -rw-r–r–. 1 root root 1926 Dec 9 2011 CentOS-Base.repo

    I think yum install hmc internally tried to connect to url as http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=6&arch=x86_64&repo=os

    And when i did wget for that URL, it is working. Then why yum install hmc fails. What repo file I need to set.

    hadoop11 ~]# wget http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=6&arch=x86_64&repo=os

    Hi, PD,

    Thanks for trying HDP.

    Here is the correct directory listing:

    [root@hmc ~]# ls /etc/yum.repos.d/
    CentOS-Base.repo CentOS-Media.repo epel.repo hdp.repo
    CentOS-Debuginfo.repo CentOS-Vault.repo epel-testing.repo

    hdp.repo is required in order to install HMC.

    Can you please follow let me know the steps you have performed before you start installing hmc?

    Thanks

    Larru

    Hi,

    I have the same issue. I see hdp.repo in my /etc/yum.repos.d/ folder. But not able to install HMC. Any ideas.

    Steps that I am following are:
    rpm -Uvh http://public-repo-1.hortonworks.com/HDP-2.0.0.2/repos/centos6/hdp-release-2.0.0.2-1.el6.noarch.rpm
    yum -y install epel-release
    yum -y install hmc

    It fails at hmc with an error that says: Nothing to do. Any input is appreciated

    Thank you

    HMC is discontinued and not exists for more than 8 months already.
    Look at the documentation for the installation steps:

    http://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/HDP1/HDP-1.3.1/bk_using_Ambari_book/content/ambari-chap1.html

    Thank you
    Sasha
