Announcing Hortonworks Data Cloud for AWS

Earlier this year, we started making Technical Previews of Hortonworks Data Cloud for AWS available. The feedback and response has been incredible, and over the past few months, we performed many Technical Preview refreshes. Now we are ready to make it official and release the product into AWS Marketplace. Therefore, we are excited to announce the availability of Hortonworks Data Cloud for AWS!

In a Nutshell

Hortonworks Data Cloud for AWS expands the portfolio of Hortonworks Cloud Solutions and provides a quick and easy on-ramp for folks looking to combine the agility of AWS with the power of the Hortonworks Data Platform.

Using Hortonworks Data Cloud for AWS (or “HDCloud” for short), you can quickly launch workload clusters that are configured and pre-tuned to run in AWS. Pick from curated list of Apache Hadoop, Apache Hive and Apache Spark configurations and start running popular data analysis use cases such as: data science & exploration, data preparation & ETL, and data analytics & reporting .

HDCloud for AWS is available from the AWS Marketplace and provides both hourly and annual billing options. There is a rich User Interface that provides a very prescriptive experience so you can focus on processing and deriving value from the data and less time operating and configuring clusters. There is also a robust Command Line Interface to make DevOps and automation a breeze. Plus, there are some more powerful features, such as sharing a Hive Metastore across clusters so that different workloads share not only the data (in Amazon S3) but also it’s metadata. This is a critical ingredient for building a Connected Data Architecture.
