Recent versions of Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) introduced several innovations in the areas of security, data governance, business cataloging, query optimization, visualization, and backup-and-restore. To help us keep pace with the rapid adoption of HDP, we are actively partnering with innovative companies within the big data ecosystem.
Expanding the Ecosystem
One such partner is Denodo, a pure play data virtualization solution provider. Denodo earned the HDP, YARN Ready, and Security Ready badges for its proven integration with our platform. Our common customers can now benefit from the lower costs of using HDP while leveraging data virtualization to bridge the gap between big data and other forms of enterprise data.
What is Data Virtualization?
Data virtualization is a data integration technology that unites the existing data world and the big data world by providing views of the data across all enterprise systems. This single, virtual data layer abstracts consumers from the underlying data sources and formats, enabling business users to view holistic data in real time. Business users further benefit by being able to use SQL to access big data rather than needing to learn Pig, Hive, and other big data access technologies.
To learn more about data virtualization, attend Denodo’s 2nd annual user conference, Datafest 2017, in New York City on October 19 and 20. If you cannot make it to New York, you can register to attend the event online, for free. It will feature a variety of presentations about modern data technologies, and on October 19 I will be presenting on edge computing; I hope to see you there!
