Today we’re excited to be jointly announcing with EMC that the Isilon OneFS file system has been certified to work with the Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP). Now Isilon customers who are looking for a robust, enterprise-ready, stable Apache Hadoop platform can use HDP on their Isilon implementations.
We’re excited to see the results of the months of engineering and testing efforts that now provide customers even greater deployment choice for their Hadoop projects as they are implementing a modern data architecture towards a data lake. With Hortonworks being the stewards of open source Apache Hadoop, customers are able to take advantage of the rapid innovation in the community.
EMC and Hortonworks teams have been working together on this certification effort, with the result being that Isilon OneFS has earned certifications in the following programs: HDP Certified, YARN Ready and Ops Ready. YARN Ready Certification means applications are able to use the resources of the customer’s Hadoop system to process Hadoop data in-place, without interfering with other YARN Ready tools and applications. Ops Ready Certification means that tools and applications have passed rigorous integration tests with the operational framework for Apache Hadoop and simplify the monitoring and management of the platform and for applications on HDP. These efforts use the Hortonworks test suite, one of the industry’s most comprehensive and thorough Hadoop test suites. By using the HDP standard test suite, Isilon customers can rest assured that they are using the most tested, most robust Hadoop distribution available.
We’re looking forward to further joint engineering efforts that will result in simplification of administration, and deeper security certification.
