Today we announced an alliance agreement with Avanade, a business technology, cloud and managed services provider, to build new big data solutions and services based on Microsoft technologies. Avanade’s data analytics deployments for enterprise clients with Microsoft Windows Server and Azure environments will turn to Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) on Windows and Microsoft Azure HDInsight – Microsoft’s 100 percent Apache Hadoop-based service in the Azure cloud.
Together, Hortonworks and Avanade will help customers with their journey to a Modern Data Architecture on Windows. A Modern Data Architecture integrates with and complements existing systems to create a highly efficient, highly scalable way to manage new types of data. It provides the foundation for your own enterprise data lake and represents the end point on the journey for unleashing analytic insights and innovations that help you compete and win in today’s marketplace.
We are delighted to have this agreement in place with Avanade, since it’s a natural compliment of our over three-year partnership with Microsoft. This partnership with Microsoft involves significant investments in engineering from both companies resulting in the only Windows native distribution of Hadoop and Microsoft’s HDInsight service (Hadoop as a Service on the Azure cloud).
Hortonworks and Avanade share a vision of making Hadoop consumable for users, and Avanade’s services Analytics as a Service and Data & Analytics Capability Assessment offerings will help clients achieve that end. Avanade’s deep knowledge of Microsoft’s technologies and their expertise in helping customers realize results in a digital world through business technology solutions and managed services delivered by Avanade’s 22,000 professionals globally.
We’re excited for this announcement and look forward to the expertise that Avanade will bring to help their customers adopt the Modern Data Architecture leveraging Hadoop.
