Hortonworks Global Roadshow Underscores Connected Era for Data

We just wrapped up our global customer roadshow.  Since early September, we’ve been live with customers and partners in 18 cities across five Continents, from Coast to Coast across the United States and as far away as Seoul, Sidney, Paris, London and Dubai.

Over the course of the tour, more than 3,200 people have spent the day with us to find out how to create actionable intelligence through a 100% open source data architecture.  It was a record setting event for us, with attendance growing dramatically over last year.

I’d also like to thank the partners, that were by our side every step of the way, including: 42 Consulting, Accenture, Amdocs, Arcadia Data, AtScale, Attivio, Attunity, Bitwise ,BMC, Booz Allen Hamilton, Centriware, CISCO, Cloudwick, Dataguise, Datameer, Data Transformed, Denodo, Drive Scale, Dell EMC, EPAM, DS&G System Co., Hashmap, HPE, IBM, Informatica (Korea), Information Builders, Kolon Benit, Microsoft, Onx, Pentaho, Pepperdata, Pivotal, Privitar, QlikTech International, RCG Global Services, SAS, Servian, Syncsort, T4G Limited, Talend, Tech Mahindra, Trifacta, WANdisco, Whishworks and Zoomdata.

The event covered both business and technology topics, including Modern Data Applications, Next Generation Analytics, Managing a Connected Data Platforms strategy across the cloud and data center, and Data-driven business transformation.  We also explored how organizations are managing their data-in-motion via Apache NiFi, Kafka, Storm and Spark, while using Hortonworks to manage their security, operations, and governance concerns.

The top takeaway for me has been that we are truly starting to enter a Connected Era, where companies are seeing historical and real-time data in their data centers, via the cloud and at the edge as strategic business assets when undertaking business transformation — in all industries.

I also look forward next year to continue this focus for DataWorks Summit and Hadoop Summit in Munich in April and in San Jose in June, which will expand the conversation to thousands more.
