Hortonworks Partner Enablement Update

We at Hortonworks live by a few core principles:

  • Innovate at the core of Hadoop
  • Make Hadoop be an Enterprise Class Data Platform
  • Do it all in open source
  • Enable the ecosystem

Our vision of “Hadoop Everywhere” is shared by our partner community who bring their industry expertise, unique software value-add and passion for customer success to enable transformational change across our joint customers. We as a Hadoop community are succeeding everyday in transforming enterprises into a data-first organization.

Doing Hadoop together is a serious endeavor at Hortonworks and we work hard at it. To this end, one of our key initiatives is to provide deep technical training opportunities to discuss the functional and operational aspects of the Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP). We launched our technical workshop series in Q3 or 2014 and have since conducted 10 workshops spanning Apache Spark and Hive to Operational Best Practices. The response from our partners has been positive, as reflected by sizable attendance for both live and recorded versions.

I would like to announce our upcoming series starting this Friday May 1st:

  • HBase For Mission Critical Applications, Friday May 1 at 10 am PT
  • Machine Learning Using Spark, Thursday May 14 at 10 am PT
  • Operations with Apache Ambari, Thursday May 28 at 10 am PT
  • HDP everywhere – Cloud considerations and deployment using Cloudbreak, date TBD
  • Operationalize your Data Lake with consistent Data Governance, Thursday July 2nd at 10 am PT

You can register for the upcoming workshops at our partner learn page and as well revisit past workshops. In our first HBase session on May 1st, we will cover:

  1. Time Series Data Modeling in HBase
  2. Integrating HBase SQL (Phoenix) with Spark for ad-hoc data exploration
  3. Sizing and tuning guidelines for mission critical HBase applications

Carter Shanklin, Product Manager for HBase will lead the first session along with Ali Bajwa from the Partner Solutions team. We are looking forward to an interactive and informative workshop with our partners this Friday.
