Early last year we announced the Hortonworks Data Heroes initiative. It’s our way of recognizing the Data Visionaries, Data Scientists, and Data Architects transforming their businesses and organizations through Big Data.
Hortonworks has over 1,300 total customers spanning every industry, each with a unique Big Data journey. Our Data Heroes program lets us highlight a few customers who are helping create radical change in their industries.
Data Visionary Nominees:
Telefonica O2 – WINNER! – Its Financial Data Hub went live in August 2017 and has ensured that O2 meets its compliance obligations as well as having a hybrid big data architecture built for the future.
Societe Generale – Societe Generale utilizes Hortonworks HDP and HDF to analyze billions of data points in hours for authentic regulatory reporting and assessing risk positions.
Standard Bank – The bank has several multi-node clusters hosting HDP and HDF, implementing security, governance and multi-tenancy on a data lake within the finance industry.
Data Scientist Nominees:
Quanam (Genlives) – WINNER! – Uses HDP to develop a tool that assists in the clinical classification of genomic variants. This helps in the determination of clinical significance using machine learning approaches and Natural Language Processing tools.
Standard Bank
Munich RE – The company’s data lake is based on HDP, which is key to its digitalization strategy. It connects global users and brings data into one place where it’s easy to consume.
Data Architect Nominees:
QSight IT – Implemented HDP as its Big Data platform, and Apache Metron for an additional layer of cybersecurity. The company is leveraging data to get a clearer view on the impact of security threats to mitigate risks.
Munich RE – WINNER!
SEB – Utilizes HDP for streaming and gaining insight. Establishing a foundation around infrastructure and new ways of solving tomorrow challenges, in the data space, with replication of the data center.
HCC Community Champion
All three nominees have been instrumental in contributing to the community, sharing their expertise and best practices as an organization to help other customers.
