NEC and Hortonworks partner to speed adoption of Open Enterprise Hadoop in Japan and Asian Countries

From Brian Burns, Regional Vice President-North Asia, Hortonworks

Big data is affecting nearly every industry and in every geography worldwide. That is particularly true in regions that have heavy manufacturing and advanced digital economies like Japan and the whole of the APAC region. The potential for harnessing this data to improve operations and find new business models and create new analytic applications is enormous and Hortonworks is seeing tremendous interest and uptake in Open Enterprise Hadoop throughout the region.

That’s why we are so excited to announce a partnership with NEC, one of the leaders in helping enterprises take advantage of their big data initiatives. NEC Corporation is a leader in the integration of IT and network technologies that benefit businesses and people around the world.

Making adoption easy for customers

Both NEC and Hortonworks are focused on customer success. As part of this agreement NEC will resell support services for the Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP™), the industry’s only 100-percent open source data platform powered by Apache™ Hadoop®, in Japan and other Asian markets. This will allow NEC customers to utilize Open Enterprise Hadoop as a complementary component of their data architectures to enable a broad range of new applications, as well as enrich existing ones with additional data sources.

NEC deep experience and expertise

NEC has combined proprietary big data analytics technologies with its cutting edge server and storage products, and is providing solutions to enable predictive analytics and advanced data visualization through the processing of huge volumes of customer data. Partnering with Hortonwoks helps NEC meet these growing customer demands in the region.

“Under this collaboration with Hortonworks, NEC will provide our customers with opportunities to create new value from big data through the combination of our unique analysis technology, server and storage products and Hortonworks Data Platform powered by Apache Hadoop,” said Tomoyasu Nishimura, General Manager, IT Platform Division, NEC Corporation.

Overall we could not be more excited about the partnership and the tremendous value this delivers for our customers in the APAC region.
