How Orwell Group’s New Banking Infrastructure is Transforming Customer Experience

Orwell Group is a regulated payments services provider specializing on one layer of the banking services stack: the cash management function. This includes current accounts, liquidity-related bank accounts and all types of payment services and their related value-added service. The company offers its regulated service in white label, allowing banks to expand geographically using cutting-edge technology.

Compliance in the Financial Services Industry

The financial services industry encounters a variety of unique challenges with data. These companies not only need the ability to process huge amounts of data from traditional and non-traditional sources, but they also need to ensure the security of their financial data and meet regulatory compliance requirements. This data is then used for actionable intelligence resulting in huge business opportunities.

Orwell Group set out on the mission to build a new kind of banking system that would enable cross border payments with new functionalities and cash flow management for high retail banking customers and corporate banks. It needed a way of scaling to much bigger enterprises with multiple millions of clients.

The partnership led to the creation of a completed integrated analytics platform, powered by Hortonworks Data Flow (HDF®) and Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP®). This brought the capability of generating unprecedented insights from the analysis of data-at-rest and data-in-motion.

The group has been able to shorten the development of a cutting edge, modern banking infrastructure (12-18 months on average), down to less than nine months. Additional results include a cost savings of ten times by moving to a streaming approach, new customer insights that had never been possible, and compliance with financial data security and protection regulations (including GDPR).
