Recapping the Third Quarter 2017 Earnings Call

customersThis past Thursday, Hortonworks announced financial results for the third quarter of 2017. These are exciting times at the company, as our CEO Rob Bearden announced another record breaking quarter!

The company’s vision started as Hortonworks Data Platform and Hortonworks Data Flow, which gives organizations the ability to manage the entire lifecycle of data. Now, companies have gotten to the point where they require common access, security, data governance, and operational management across multiple clusters. To solve this challenge, we introduced Hortonworks DataPlane Service (Hortonworks DPS™) last month. Hortonworks DPS allows organizations to view clusters across multiple data lakes from a single pane of glass.

It’s clear that the company is making great strides, and it wouldn’t be possible without our customers. Today, we can count over half of the Fortune 100 and more than a quarter of the Fortune Global 500 companies as customers. We’re seeing customers across every industry achieve incredible results.

Some of the industries that Rob highlighted were as follows:

  • Financial services – Companies like Manulife, Munich RE, Progressive, and Solera have chosen Hortonworks to help address the business challenges they’re facing. In the financial services sector, the ability to trace, track, and manage data globally is essential for providing a superior customer experience, cost optimization and risk control. HDP and HDF help make this possible.
  • AutomotiveNissan Motor selected HDP to power their data lake infrastructure, which will collect data across the entire business. This includes data related to driving and vehicle quality, which helps ensure users have a seamless driving experience. The expectation is that the platform will host up to 500TB of data by the end of the year.
  • Telecom – Data is critical to better understand the experience and behavior of customers, and to provide a high level of service while managing costs. Customers like Cox Communications and T-Mobile Austria have selected Hortonworks to help address similar challenges.
  • Public sector organizations like the United States Census Bureau have selected Hortonworks to extract actionable intelligence from their data and help solve some of their biggest data challenges and requirements.

Thanks to all our customers for making this another monumental quarter!
