Teradata recognizes Hortonworks again for being the world’s best

Earning the prestigious Teradata EPIC award is no easy feat. Partners who would like to have a shot at winning the top recognition need to demonstrate how their solution provides a unified, high-performance big data analytics system for an enterprise and show measurable return on investment. After receiving Teradata’s EPIC award recognition for Big Data Intelligence in 2013 and 2014, Hortonworks, yet again, has been recognized as the leader by winning this award for the third year in a row. And if this wasn’t enough, Teradata also provided Hortonworks with a partner EPIC award for Collaborative Revenue.

Teradata’s recognition comes shortly after CRN naming Hortonworks to The Channel Company’s exclusive 2015 CRN Emerging Vendors List. The annual list features technology vendors that have introduced innovative new products, creating opportunities for channel partners to create solutions for customers.

EPICHWXReceiving these awards is more than just showing off or earning bragging rights. It is a confirmation by industry leaders of Hortonworks strategy and execution. Customers and partners value how all innovation at Hortonworks is driven through the open source community. This approach of deep involvement across Apache projects not only ensures optimal integration; it also provides customers rapid innovation, deep ecosystem integration and a low risk of vendor lock-in.

But Hortonworks does not stop there. By being a founding member of the Open Data Platform initiative (ODPi), Hortonworks with other industry leaders in the big data space, promote big data technologies 100% based on open source software from the Apache Hadoop ecosystem. There is no other Hadoop distribution vendor who can make this claim. Now you might wonder why this is so important. Here’s how Jim Zemlin, executive director of the Linux Foundation, puts it “We’ve seen this model work with open source technologies experiencing rapid growth and know it can increase adoption and open up opportunities for innovation on top of an already strong Hadoop community”.
