UNOS Uses HDP to Help Save Lives, Part 2

The long-awaited sequel! A little over a week ago I blogged about how the United Network for Sharing (UNOS), the private, non-profit organization managing the United States organ transplant system, enables life-saving organ transplants. You can read the blog here.

UNOS uses Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP™) to optimize their enterprise data warehouse and to streamline their Organ Offer Reports for transplant centers and organ procurement organizations. They’re one of a growing number of companies in the healthcare sector leveraging Hortonworks and HDP to save lives.

I’m pleased to share the second video in this series wherein Brian Sullivan, Technical Director for Technology Operations at UNOS, shares how data is essential to their business.

UNOS’ data problem is complex: they deal with hundreds of factors while compiling their Organ Offers Reports. HDP has enabled these reports to be self-service, saving UNOS tremendous amounts of time and providing the transplant community with timely information to make life-changing and life-saving decisions.

To rapidly achieve success, UNOS relied upon the help of Hortonworks Professional Services to jump-start their program, accelerating their time from concept to execution.

To learn more about how UNOS leverages HDP to save lives, check out the case study.
