Title: Sr. Manager, Revenue Recognition

Location: Santa Clara, CA.

Hortonworks is looking for a Sr. Manager, Revenue Recognition to lead the Revenue Advisory Team.  The Revenue Advisory team is involved in all aspects of deal structuring, defining new business models, establishing revenue policies, and ensuring global policies are consistently applied. This individual will help our business partners make informed business decisions and be the point-of-contact on policy related matters.  The role will also manage some aspects of systems and operations to ensure accounting processes are in compliance with policies while making process improvements for scalability.  We are looking for someone who feels empowered to innovate, takes action, is customer driven and is someone we can trust to make the right decisions.

The position will be based out of our Santa Clara, CA office.

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates and creates revenue policies to make sure they align with the business and make economic sense.
  • Is able to tackle technical revenue topics, including forward looking issues such as proposed revenue guidance, and provide an accurate interpretation that can be used to proactively support the business.
  • Leads the global review of complex deals for consistency with policies and practices. Participates in revenue contract negotiation, collaborating with Legal, Sales, and Revenue Operations teams.
  • Partners and mentors Regional Revenue Manager’s to apply policies consistently across regions and assists on deal structuring.
  • Participates in routine accounting close activities, specifically in the area of deal/flux reviews and management reporting.
  • Lead and serve as a mentor to the revenue team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • Public Accounting experience (Big 4 CPA a plus)
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in software revenue recognition
  • Strong technical knowledge of ASC 606 & 605
  • Experience with NetSuite (a plus) or other related ERP systems, i.e. SAP, Oracle, etc…
  • Ability to work in dynamic, fast paced, fast growing company where adaptability is imperative
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
