Sr. BI Visualization & Reporting Analyst (Domo)

Title: Sr. BI Visualization & Reporting Analyst (Internal Title: Sr. Sales Operations Analyst II)

Location: Santa Clara, CA.

As the Senior Sales Operations Analyst II, BI Visualization & Reporting, you will be a key subject matter expert on the Domo platform, supporting the adoption and expansion of our enterprise analytics capabilities across the company.  This role is a critical pillar of our Domo BI Center of Excellence (COE), supporting all lines of business (Sales, Marketing, Support, Finance, Engineering, etc.) You will be a thought leader for enterprise analytics and data management, a subject matter expert on the full suite of Domo capabilities, and a mentor for our department-embedded reporting teams.  You will apply your deep understanding of report authoring, analytics and visualizations best practices to a wide array of business contexts, to help our business teams derive value and actionable insights from our enterprise data.  This is a leadership role with hands-on delivery responsibilities, with equal parts strategic thinking, policy setting, support, education, platform administration, portfolio management, and project delivery.  You will have the opportunity to work with all levels of the Hortonworks organization, and collaborate on the design and delivery of our next-generation analytics capabilities. 

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with business stakeholders across Hortonworks, to understand business systems, processes and data required to support our enterprise analytics needs
  • Collaborate with our department leads and Domo Data Lead, on the design of our data architecture, required to support current and future-state reporting
  • Assist in the overall design of the Domo information architecture, and monitor and enforce adherence to architectural design standards
  • Establish a visual design style guide and reference documentation based on tried and tested best practices tailored to the Hortonworks environment, and evangelize standards adoption through stakeholder outreach and proactive reviews of Domo content
  • Perform periodic reviews of departmental dashboards and reports and advise on opportunities for consolidation, standardization and general design improvements
  • Provide guidance to department reporting leads on usability and UI/UX conventions, including use of filters, hover text, drill paths and other interactive elements of the Domo experience
  • Collaborate with our department leads and Domo Data Lead to ensure “clean” data is available by running profiling, scrubbing and standardization and harmonization processes on BI datasets and integrations
  • Define, socialize, monitor and enforce policies related to the creation of dashboards, cards, groups and permissions, to ensure an optimal experience for our BI users
  • Collaborate with the department reporting leads on the creation of reports and visualizations, including hands-on report development as well as consultative support
  • Define and enforce proper change management and testing processes for report updates and additions
  • Ensure the accuracy of data used to support all analytics requirements, taking into consideration the business use cases, technology constraints, and API or governor constraints of source systems
  • Review, build and govern “Beast Mode” calculations used in card development, ensuring accurate formulas, adherence to best practices, consistent data definitions, and appropriate application in reports
  • Work with business stakeholders to identify new opportunities to improve our reporting ecosystem
  • Manage a report request backlog, including introduction of new systems and data sets, automation of processes, card tuning, new reports, updates to existing reports, and updates to data feeds and data flows to support new reporting use cases
  • Mentor and support the extended, department-embedded Domo reporting teams, on the creation of reports and visualizations and general use of the Domo platform
  • Assist in the rollout/onboarding of new departments onto Domo analytics

Skills:

  • 3+ years of experience with Domo preferred
  • 7+ years of experience working with a reporting & analytics platform, with hands-on experience with report authoring and visualization design
  • Experience with advanced analytics, including predictive modeling, AI and machine-learning concepts
  • Experience with the end-to-end process for data pipelines and analytics
  • Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) solutions and best practices
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Highly analytical mind, with experience solving complex data problems
  • Experience with data administration activities, including data transformations, creation of calculated values, dataset joins, etc.
  • Experience with Amazon Redshift
  • Hands-on experience managing an enhancement/project roadmap, including requirements intake, prioritization, planning, resourcing and delivery
  • Excellent communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical people
  • Experience presenting to and managing expectations with VPs and executive stakeholders
  • Self-starter with the ability to self-direct and self-manage
  • Experience working with and integrating data from sales, support, marketing and finance systems such as Salesforce (Sales Cloud, Salesforce CPQ, Service Cloud), Marketo, OpenAir, Netsuite, Xactly, JIRA, Google Analytics, etc.

Education:      

  • BS or BA in a Computer Science, Engineering, Math and/or Scientific discipline.
