Cloudbreak and Machine Learning

Two great speakers and loads of fascinating conversations around all things Data. Our two speakers are Jade Abbot and Willie Engelbrecht.

Jade Abbot will give a talk on “Machine Learning in Real Life”.

Short description of her talk:
Thanks to the openness of the machine learning community, any developer with an interest in machine learning these days, can get up a model to recognise characters or generate Trump-like tweets in a couple of hours. But what happens when we need to train a model to do a customer facing task, that we trust enough to deploy to a production system? And how do we get that model into production and maintain it once it is there? My talk aims to share some of the struggles and strategies from the trenches of training and building the infrastructure for a complex deep learning model for production use.

Jade’s Bio:
Jade is a Senior Software Developer and Data Scientist at Retro Rabbit. She is finishing up her M.Sc. in Swarm Robotics, considers herself a polyglot and has a passion for everything artificial intelligence. Her focus for the year has been building the NLP functionality for startup app Kalido.

Willie Engelbrecht will give a talk on Cloudbreak ((deploying Hadoop on Azure)

Willie’s Bio:
Willie is currently a Solutions Engineer with HortonWorks. He is passionate about Open Source technologies and building large scale IT infrastructure around it. I help our customers evaluate their Big Data needs and how our platform can provide them with the capabilities to solve their needs.

• What to bring
Loads of questions.
A passion to learn great things.
