These days it feels like there’s news of a major data breach every other week and it is becoming ever clearer that businesses need to take a more intelligent approach to detecting and responding to cyber threats. As data science and big data technologies become more and more common in enterprises, the logical next step is to apply the same principles to some of the biggest data there is: cyber!
Join us for beers and pizzas as we showcase two presentations about the future of data in cybersecurity!
**Hortonworks Cybersecurity Platform**
Simon Elliston Ball, Director of Product Management for Cybersecurity at Hortonworks, will talk to us about the Apache Metron and the Hortonworks Cybersecurity Platform (HCP). The open source platform, based on the Apache Metron framework, is already being used by enterprises to detect cyber threats in real time and build business value through security services.
HCP takes a data-science-based approach to cybersecurity with behaviour profiling and machine learning to combat threats as they are escalating. HCP’s extensible open data models are designed to expand reach into different data types relevant to security investigations and provide flexibility for data enrichment and transformation. The result is more security threats thwarted, with better detection, and the reduction of false positives.
**PLUS** Special guests from the cybersecurity industry will talk to us about their real life challenges and how they solve cybersec issues at scale. Watch this space for more details nearer the time!
