The Hortonworks Sandbox is a virtual server available for multiple virtualization platforms. The Hortonworks Sandbox provides a pre-configured HDP cluster powered by Apache Hadoop and other open source projects that will allow you to jump start your Journey into Big Data analytics.
During this session, Luis Figueroa (Solutions Engineer @ Hortonworks) will walk you through learning the ropes with the Sandbox. He will then discuss typical use cases for interactive querying, followed by a deep dive into Long Live And Process (LLAP). LLAP is the powerful technology that delivers outstanding performance improvements to Hive enabling a truly interactive experience.
If you’d like to follow along, bring your laptop and complete the following pre-requisits:
1) Install Virtual Box, VMWare or Docker in your laptop. Virtual Box is the preferred virtualization environment for the Sandbox. If you don’t already have one of the virtualization environments, you can download VirtualBox here:
2) Download the Hortonworks Sandbox 2.5 here:
3) Verify you can open and start the Sandbox VM in your virtualization environment of choice.
