Integrating Apache Atlas and Apache Ranger for Unified Hadoop Security and Governance with Hortonworks is a new report from Enterprise Strategy Group that provides an overview of Apache Ranger and Apache Atlas and how an integrated approach provides both data stewards and the security administrators with a comprehensive framework and easy-to-use tooling to make their Hadoop infrastructure secure and compliant.
With the Hortonworks Data Platform, organizations can enhance their role-based security with dynamic classification-based security policies. Apache Atlas helps organizations track data through consistent classification, while Apache Ranger defines and enforces security policies to oversee access to the classified data at a fine-grained level. Ranger’s centralized platform allows data administrators to define security policies based on Atlas metadata tags or attributes. These policies can then be applied to data assets such as databases, tables, files, topics, topologies, and columns in real time.
